Growing on Competition and Sale Weekend

Over the weekend of the 6th and 7th of October we will be running our ever popular annual growing on competition.
Over the weekend of the 6th and 7th of October we will be running our ever popular annual growing on competition. We will have available 250 high quality small koi all of which were born in June 2017. The koi available have been selected from the following breeders :- Takahashi, Ofuchi, Sakai, Hiroi, Yamazaki and Seitero. These fish have not been previously displayed in our retail area and will be priced between £35 and £125. All koi will be photographed and measured and any koi purchased will be kept in our indoor growing facility at 24 degrees until Easter 2019 then cooled and made available for collection. The owner of the koi with the greatest increase in growth and also the owner of the koi showing the most improvement in quality will have their purchase price refunded and receive a free 2kg tub of Avenue fisheries growth food, a 2kg tub of Takazumi growth & colour food and 2kg of Medicarp. The same mix as they were fed during the growing period. Last years winning fish for development of quality was a Doitsu Tancho showa bred by Takahashi. The winning fish for growth was a Karashigoi bred by Yamazaki which grew by 13cm. The average growth of the 250 fish was 10cm.
Also available for entry in the growing on competition will be 25 Matsonsuke Sakai 1 year old Tategoi Go Sanke sized between 25 and 30cm. These fish will be at a special price of £325 each.

New 2 year old Koi stocks
For this weekend we will have on sale 40 mixed varieties 2 year old koi bred by Ofuchi not previously available in our retail area. These fish are sized between 14” and 16” and will be offered at a special price of £245.
Photographs of growing on fish will be on display from Thursday 4th October on Facebook. We will also have individually photographed and discounted koi available ranging in price from £350 to £4500 a selection of which are listed below:

Over this weekend we will have special discount prices on foods for cooler temperatures such as Kokney Koi wheat-germ, Japan pet design all weather, Aquasource all season & wheat-germ, and our Premium koi food.
Barbeque
For both Saturday & Sunday we will be running a bbq from 9am both days.
Japan
This year will be the 36th year we have made purchasing trips to Japan, visiting in excess of 50 times. This has enabled us to establish strong relationships with many of Japan's top breeders. We are also members of the Shinkokai (Japan's koi Dealers Association) and have judged at koi shows in Japan, including the All Japan Koi Show in 2010.
These close and long term links with the Japanese koi industry allow us to source high grade koi at competitive prices and also ensure the health status of the fish purchased.
As usual we will be making purchases from the Niigatta region (the birthplace of koi) and also Yamanashi prefecture, home of Murayama, Sakuma and Matsunosuke Sakai. This year for the first time in a number of years we will also be visiting the southern regions of Japan including Hiroshima to visit a number of the areas famous breeders including Sakai, Takigawa and Omasako.
