Over this weekend we will be running our ever popular growing on competition. Whilst the format remains the same, each year we endevor to make improvements. 

 

As the event appears to get more popular each year we have found ourselves selling out of the normal 250 number of special koi on the Saturday of the event, often leaving regular customers who can only make Sundays with little choice or no fish to purchase. With this in mind this year we will have 200 special koi on view and available for purchase on Saturday and a further 200 that will only be made available on Sunday. This will prevent much overcrowding and also provide a fairer choice for all . We will still have the prize of purchase price of fish refunded and £100 of quality food for the koi with the largest increase in size. We will also have the most improvement in quality prize of the same value purchase prize refunded and £100 of quality koi food but will have a prize for each of the two days. Giving both Saturday & Sunday an even chance or double the chance if you attend both days.

COVID 19 VIRUS UPDATE. 

In line with government guidelines we are able to remain open as a business to supply the foods and products needed for animal welfare. The nature of our retail area, being outside and covering a large area, allows visitors to view our stocks of koi whilst observing the current recommendations on social distancing. Having operated a Bio- secure quarantine facility for over 20 years we are fully aware of the care needed. With this in mind we have installed hand sanitiser dispensers and will be asking customers to take sensible precautions and ensure they help us in ensuring social distancing is adhered to. Because of this we will only be allowing one customer at a time in our indoor shop. 

 

To help customers get the best products to ensure the welfare of their fish we will be extending our special offers that were available at Easter for the whole of May. Please view the “Easter weekend” post on our web site in the news section. 

 

If you are still concerned about visiting we are able to courier / post any dry goods that you require with postage at cost price. Alternatively we can pick and pack any items you require with card payment over the phone for collection from a designated area in our car park. 

 

Over this weekend we will be running our ever popular annual growing on competition. We will have available 250 high quality small koi all of which were born in June of 2018. The koi available have been selected from the following breeders :- Teradomari, Ofuchi, Sakai, Miyazaki, Hiroi, Yamazaki and Seitero.  

These fish have not been previously displayed in our retail area and will be priced between £35 and £275. All koi will be photographed and measured and any koi purchased will be kept in our indoor growing facility at 24 degrees c until Easter 2020 then cooled and made available for collection.  

The owner of the koi with the greatest increase in growth and also the owner of the koi showing the most improvement in quality will have their purchase price refunded and receive a free 2kg tub of Avenue fisheries growth food and a 2kg tub of Takazumi growth & colour food also 2kg of Medicarp. This is the same mix as they were fed during the growing period.  

Last years winning fish for development of quality was a doitsu Sanke bred by Hiroi. The winning fish for growth was a Gin rin kohaku bred by Teradomari which grew by 11cm.
